Juan Carlos Martin
Experienced Private Equity Advisor and former Director of Alternative Investments with a proven track record working in the financial services industry. Expert in Private Credit, Private Equity and Real Asset investments. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, a Master's degree in Finance and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation from the CAIA Association.

Our team
Founder
Juan Carlos Martin
Juan Carlos is the Founder of Galleon Capital, an advisory and capital formation firm specializing in private markets across Latin America. He is a seasoned professional in the field of Private Capital and Financial Advisory. His previous role as the Director and Head of Alternative Investments at Citibanamex Afore, a leading pension fund in México with assets under management (AUM) of about USD 55 billion, is a testament to his extensive experience. In this role, he was responsible for portfolio construction, fund selection, structuring, and execution of private capital investments through funds and co-investments, both local and international. Before his role at Citibanamex, Juan Carlos served as the Portfolio Manager of Alternatives Investments at Afore XXI-Banorte, the largest pension fund in México, with over USD 65 billion AUM. In this capacity, he led the Private Equity and Private Credit strategies. He also served as a non-executive board member for more than 40 public-listed investment vehicles (CKDs/CERPIs). Prior to this, he was the corporate treasurer at a leading retail company. His career also includes a significant role as a financial regulator within the Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and managing financial risk. Juan Carlos's commitment to excellence marks his academic and professional journey. He holds a Bachelor of Economics with a Risk Management Specialization from the prestigious Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City and a master's in finance from the Universidad de Alcala in Spain. His dedication to the finance industry is further evidenced by his CAIA Charter holder status, his role as the co-founder of the CAIA Latin America Chapter, and his position as the CAIA Country Head for Mexico.
